RB Neighborhood Watch’s primary purpose is to help our neighbors live safe and secure. We are seeking the active participation of residents to volunteer for this program. To become a volunteer, you must be a current resident of Rancho Bernardo, be 18 years of age or older, and have no felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions related to moral turpitude.
Office Support – to staff the office on a weekly basis, providing support services to Block Captains and Rancho Bernardo residents.
Special Events – to educate the community on crime prevention and safety information by staffing the RB Neighborhood Watch booth at events like RB Alive, the July 4th Community Fair at Webb Park, and the RB Safety Fair.
Block Captain – to serve your neighbors by maintaining communications with them, inform them about area crime activities and alerts as provided by the San Diego Police Department, provide crime prevention and safety information and tip-sheets, and facilitate information exchange between neighbors.
Block Captain Duties include:
- Create a “roster” of the residents of your block and maintain communications with your neighbors (using email, phone, and/or door-to-door).
- Distribute crime reports, alerts, and pertinent information from the San Diego Police Department to the neighbors in your block.
- Organize crime prevention activities, e.g., watching homes when residents are away, providing crime prevention tip sheets to residents, etc.
- Plan and hold at least one “block” party a year for your block (can be a potluck dinner, ice cream social, whatever you and your neighbors want to do).
We need your help – Volunteer today! Print and complete the RBNHW Volunteer App and return to the RBNHW office. Trainings for new Block Captains and other volunteer positions will be held monthly; check our Upcoming Events page for more information.
Be that neighbor who helps keep your neighbors, on your street, living safe and secure.
