If I’m getting my a** out the door to go to a party, chances are I want to take that opportunity to look good, like, glam good not spooky good.

For all you lazy Halloween gals and guys out there who want to throw on some black clothes and claim you’re a witch, here’s the perfect Halloween makeup to match.

The look: deep, dark, sultry, sexy eyes and deep lips. If there’s any time to ditch the “eyes or lips” rule it’s Halloween.

The base

We want a flawless, full coverage base for this look, a smooth canvas that can support those bold eyes and lips.

Apply your go-to skincare and primer, if you use it. Buff a medium or full coverage foundation into the skin, starting from the center of the face and moving outward.

Dot your concealer under the eyes, around the edges of the nose, on the chin, and wherever you have redness or blemishes. Pat in with a sponge or your ring finger.

Take a translucent powder on a small fluffy brush and dust it over the areas you concealed and where you tend to get shiny.

Tip: if you don’t have a full-coverage foundation (or any foundation), use your concealer to create a flawless base by placing it wherever you can see any redness or discoloration and buff until seamless.

The cheeks

Take a cool bronzer or contouring product and lightly dust under the cheekbones, through the hairline, down the sides of the nose, and under the jawline. Buff in with a brush until seamless. Blend a little neutral, pink, or berry onto the apples of the cheeks and finish with a creamy highlight on the cheekbones, nose ridge, and brow bone.

The eyes

For this look, I’m using Confessions of a Nudist and Investiglam palettes to create an easy smokey eye.

  • Cover the lids in an eyeshadow primer or non-oily concealer.
  • Buff a mid-toned brown like B-Day Suit (or one that suits your skin tone) over the entire lid.
  • Buff a deep brown (like Silhouette) into the crease and through the upper and lower lash lines. Buff it through the outer V in a slightly winged shape.
  • Take a black shade like Secret Baegent (from Investiglam) on a small shadow brush and buff it over where you applied the deep brown, building it up along the lash lines
  • Tap a silvery or gold shimmer into the inner corners
  • Add a some fierce falsies like the So Ka-Ute style

The lips

Let’s keep this simple by using a long-wearing liquid lippie to last all night. We’re going for a dark blood red and Cuddle Me is the perfect one (despite the very non-scary name).

However, that’s not all.

We’re going to intensify the lips by using a darker pencil to create an almost ombre effect. Take a deep shade like Pudding and line the lips with it, focusing on the outer corners. Fill in the lips with your red lippie and blend the two shades together with a lip brush.

Easy Summer Date Night Makeup Ideas https://liveglam.com/easy-summer-date-night-makeup-ideas/ https://liveglam.com/easy-summer-date-night-makeup-ideas/#respond Wed, 10 Aug 2022 23:05:07 +0000 https://liveglam.com/?p=10043351292 A date night on a warm, breezy summer evening, what could be better? You’re feeling excited yet relaxed, you want to look amazing but don’t want to spend a long time on your look. You want to look fresh and cute but natural and fresh too. Got it!

Here’s an easy Summer date night makeup anyone can whip up in ten minutes or so.

Base

Let’s aim for a glowy base that evens out your skin tone and smooths the pores while remaining natural and fresh.

Cleanse and moisturize as usual. If you have a tinted moisturizer or BB/CC cream, apply that to the face. If you’re a foundation gal, apply a few dots to the face then buff it in with a brush or sponge, blending it out to a sheer finish. You could also add a few drops of foundation to your moisturizer to create a tint.

Take your usual concealer and use a tiny brush to spot-conceal any redness, blemishes, or discoloration.

If you struggle with oil or shine, you can do one of two things. You can use a little translucent powder on your shiny areas. Or, you can just embrace that we’re in Summer and things are going to get glowy!

Our go-to foundation

Our go-to skin tint

Cheeks

In my opinion, the cheeks are the real hero of the fresh Summer look. Flushed, glowy cheeks sculpt the face and bring that fresh glow we love.

Take a bronzer on a big, fluffy brush and buff through the cheekbones, through the hairline, across the nose, and along the jaw. Now take a sanity blush in your go-to shade (fresh pink, berry, coral, orange, or red) and buff onto the apples of the cheeks in an upward motion toward the temples.

Brush the excess on the brush over the nose and through the hairline. It’ll be barely detectable but the extra color just ties things together. Stand back and add a little more to the cheeks if needed.

Take a creamy highlight with a glowy-not-glittery finish and dab onto the tops of the cheeks, down the bridge of the nose (avoid the tip!), and over the cupid’s bow. Use a clean finger to buff it into the skin to avoid any skip marks around the edges.

Our go-to bronzer

Our go-to blush

Our go-to highlight

Eyes

Let’s keep this as simple as possible. Take a fluffy brush and load it with a shimmery shade just a little lighter than your skin tone. This could be pale pearl, champagne, gold, bronze, or deep tan. Buff it over the entire lid.

Now take your bronzer on that same fluffy brush and buff into the crease and along the lower lash lines. Take a black or brown pencil and press into the upper lash line.

Add plenty of mascara. Done.

Lips

Let’s not be coy here, chances are high that there’s going to be some making out. For that reason, you’re going to want a lip that’s soft, wears-off nicely, and won’t give too much transfer.

A soft liner (I love Cake Pop!) topped with Shnooks or a lip oil (like Dreamy Sky) will plump and soften the lips, is easy to reapply without a mirror, and will wear off na- turally.

5 Summer Makeup Looks You’ll Love https://liveglam.com/5-summer-makeup-looks-youll-love/ https://liveglam.com/5-summer-makeup-looks-youll-love/#respond Fri, 08 Jul 2022 22:23:08 +0000 https://liveglam.com/?p=10043335481 Summer time! Breathe in that warm air and feel the sun on your SPF-slicked skin. If you’re feeling a little same-same with your go-to makeup looks, use the change of season to mix it up!

Here are 5 fun summer makeup looks you’ll love.

Electric blue eyes and oil-slicked lips

When tinkering around with my palette collection, I re-noticed the shade Kyanite in the You’re a Gem palette. This bright shimmery blue is like a summer sky in an eyeshadow and it looks incredible on all skin tones.

I like to pair this shadow with ultra glossy lips by using my LiveGlam lip oil over a little nude liner.

Keep the skin dewy, bronzed, and natural.

  • Cover the lid with eyeshadow primer
  • Use a fluffy brush to pat your bright blue shadow onto the mobile lid
  • Use a clean brush to buff the edges so they’re smooth and blended
  • Repeat until you achieve an bold, opaque blue lid
  • Add mascara and falsies
  • Line the lips with a little nude liner to add fullness
  • Coat the lips in clear lip oil

Guac-green eyes and nude-lined lips

Green eyeshadow makes me swoon, every time. No matter your skin tone or hair color, green shadow is striking and perfect for lush summer nights.

The shades Holy Guacamole and Margarita from the Taco Tuesday palette inspired this look. I love to pair it with a creamy nude liner topped with a little soft balm.

For the skin, I love an ultra-bronzed look to make the green pop. A gold-toned dewy sheen puts the cherry on top.

  • Cover the lid with eyeshadow primer
  • Buff Holy Guacamole (or similar) over the lid and along the lower lash line
  • Use a clean brush to ensure the edges are seamless
  • Take a shimmery green such as Margarita on your finger and tap it over the mobile lid
  • Add a little gold to the inner corners
  • Add liquid liner if you wish, or keep it simple and skip that step
  • Add mascara
  • Line the lips with a creamy nude liner and dab balm or lip oil over the top to retain moisture and plumpness

Bronzed skin and pink cheeks and eyes

Even pale ladies like me can enjoy a bronzed look, especially when it’s freshened-up with a pop of pink. Enhance your natural tan or fake one all together with a satiny, warm bronzer for that healthy, sculpted look. A fresh pink cheek breathes youthful life into the skin, while pink shadow on the eyes creates a feminine, whimsical aesthetic.

  • Apply your go-to tinted moisturizer or sheer foundation and buff into the skin
  • Take your favorite bronzer on a large, fluffy brush and buff over the cheekbones, forehead, nose, and jawline
  • Take your bronzer through the crease of the eye and through the lower lash line with a fluffy brush
  • Pop a fresh pink blush onto the cheeks and up toward the temples
  • Take the same pink blush on a fluffy eyeshadow brush and buff onto the eyelids and through the crease
  • All the lips need is a little lip oil, pale pink gloss, or balm

All-over orange monochrome

My favorite way to celebrate a summer’s evening out is to create an all-over orange dream look. Orange is so beautifully warm, rich, and flattering to most skin tones (especially golden ones), why not use it all over the face?

This is a great look if you’re in a hurry, you have minimal products on you, but you want to do something impactful. You can use the same products for different areas of the face.

  • Apply your go-to summer’s evening base
  • Take a bold orange blush and buff into the cheeks, carrying it through lightly to the nose and forehead. Buff the same blush shade into the crease and the lower lash line
  • For a bolder orange, take a shade like Fly High from the Whimsical Garden palette and press into the lid and through the crease
  • Take a stunning orange lippie such as Rose over Bros and apply to the lips, either full opaque or a soft flush
  • For extra texture, top the color with lip oil, gloss, or balm

Shimmery lavender eyes

Lavender is a shade that transcends all seasons, but I think it works best during those hot summer days and nights. It brings a little coolness to the look and offsets a fresh tan (or pearly pale skin).

This look can be done in a minute or two, with minimal products so it’s great for festivals and lazy days.

  • Apply an SPF tinted moisturizer or BB cream and cancel any under eye circles with concealer
  • Lightly buff a bronzer over the face with a fluffy brush
  • Pat a shimmery lavender shade all over the lid using your ring finger, building it up as you go. My go-to shade for this look is Designer Drip from the Boujee palette.
  • Take a little extra glitter and press into the center of the lid, (I like Sugar, Sugar from the Boujee palette)
  • Add fluffy falsies such as So Ka-Ute or simply apply a few coats of mascara if time is running out
  • For daytime, use a lip oil or simple gloss, and ramp it up and night with a bold red lip

Best Spring Makeup Looks You’ll Want to Try This Season https://liveglam.com/best-spring-makeup-looks-youll-want-to-try-this-season/ https://liveglam.com/best-spring-makeup-looks-youll-want-to-try-this-season/#respond Tue, 22 Mar 2022 22:50:30 +0000 https://liveglam.com/?p=10043272459 We think it’s a universal fact that spring is one of the very best times of year. It’s fresher, brighter, more colorful, more hopeful! Embrace the joy and reflect it in your makeup looks. Hey, this could be the year you become best friends with pastels or finally discover that perfect pink lip.

Here are our favorite spring makeup looks you must try this season.

Neon Pink Eyes and Bare Glossy Lips

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by NAM VO✨GLOW⚡SKIN💫 (@namvo)

What’s my reaction to a fresh, early Spring day? PINK! Yeah, yeah, I’m predictable…I accept that. The shade Ruby from the You’re a Gem Palette inspired this look I can’t get enough of that matte, hot hue.

This look is perfect for weekend brunch, picnics, cocktails, and spring-has-sprung parties.

How-to:

  • Lay down your go-to base. I like a medium coverage with glowy highlights for this look.
  • Add a little light sculpting with a contour cream stick or neutral bronzer under the cheekbones and around the hairline.
  • Pop a light wash of fresh pink blush onto the apples of the cheeks but keep it subtle.
  • Cover the lids with eyeshadow primer.
  • Place a sheet of clean kitchen paper or a tissue under the eyes and angle toward the outer end of the brow. This will prevent fallout.
  • Take a dense eyeshadow packing brush with Ruby (or another matte hot pink shadow).
  • Pack the color onto the lid and through the crease until opaque.
  • Add a little silver shimmer into the inner corner and brow bone.
  • Add black mascara and soft falsies.
  • Keep the lips bare but add a high-shine gloss.

Intensified Blush

A post shared by Sandijarquin (@sandijarquin)

Blush isn’t just to add warmth, life, and dimension to the face. Blush can be a feature! Spring is a great season for adding watercolor-style shades across the cheekbones, apples, and temples. Tone down the eyes and lips and up the intensity on your cheek color.

This look is perfect anytime, but I like it best for daytime jaunts. To make it a little more impactful for evening, add lashes and a little extra highlight.

How-to:

  • Complete your usual base routine.
  • Add concealer or a skin-matching cream shadow to the eyes and set with translucent powder.
  • Add plenty of mascara.
  • Take a matte or satin blush on a fluffy blush brush and buff into the cheeks in an upward motion toward the temples. The color choice is up to you and your skin tone. I have pale, freckled skin so I go for a mid-toned pink or a fresh, apricot shade.
  • Layer the blush until you reach a bright-yet-smooth and cohesive application.
  • If you go too far, take a clean brush with a little powder and buff over your blush.
  • Take whatever blush is left on your blush brush and gently buff over the nose and hairline for a subtle cohesivity.
  • Slick a tinted balm, shiny gloss, or fresh nude stain over the lips.

Glossy Skin, Lips, and Eyes

Flowers are blooming, skin is coming out! Celebrate your Spring skin with high-shine juicy gloss. This is also a great way to combat and conceal any residual dryness from the wretched Winter months.

This look is great for day and night as you can add more intensity for night with a slick of bright lippie or a thick cat-eye wing.

How-to:

  • Exfoliate and moisturize your face, adding SPF if you’re heading out in the day.
  • Apply a light foundation, tinted moisturizer, or BB/CC cream. Or, combine your heavier foundation with your moisturizer or liquid highlight (such as MAC Strobe Cream).
  • Use an illuminating cream or liquid concealer to brighten the under eyes and neutralize redness and blemishes.
  • If you cannot live without powder, use a luminizing transparent powder sparingly where you get most oily.
  • Use your fingers or a brush to dab cream blush onto the apples of your cheeks.
  • Use your finger to tap a shimmery eyeshadow or eyeshadow topper onto the lids. Gauzy, sheer silver, lilac, gold, and champagne shimmers give a wet look without creasing.
  • Tap a creamy highlight onto the cheekbones, nose bridge, and cupid’s bow.
  • Line and fill the lips with a neutral nude or soft pink liner and top with a creamy gloss.

Whimsical Pastel Pops

Pastels are in, in, in. Mint green, soft lilac, and tangerine in a matte formula add whimsy and femininity to any eye look. Be creative by placing your matte pastels eyeshadows at the outer corner of the eye in an artful, haphazard fashion. If you’re really feeling it, try two or three shades, dabbed onto the lids in a watercolor fashion.

The perfect palette for this look is You’re a Gem, thanks to the to-die-for shades Amethyst, Amber, and Jade.

How-to:

  • Complete your usual base, keeping it clean and fresh.
  • Use a clean finger or dense shadow brush to pack a pastel matte shade onto the outer corner of the lid.
  • Take another shade and dab it next to your first shade, softly blending the colors together.
  • Skip liner and add black mascara.
  • Try a little fresh pink blush and a lightly tinted gloss.

Date Night Makeup Looks To Try https://liveglam.com/date-night-makeup-looks-to-try/ https://liveglam.com/date-night-makeup-looks-to-try/#respond Sat, 12 Mar 2022 00:11:16 +0000 https://liveglam.com/?p=10043264378 Ah, “date night”, a phrase with many possibilities. It could be a much-deserved night out with a spouse after a particularly busy phase with jobs, kids, and adult life. It could be a heart-fluttering third or fourth date with someone who looks curiously like your future forever dude. Or, it could even be a first Tinder date, blind date, or “maybe this will fast-track getting over my breakup” date (not recommended). Either way, a date night is an excuse to have fun with makeup. Here are some easy yet beautiful date night makeup looks to try.

The vampy, come-hither dinner and cocktails date

A post shared by BEAUTY IS BORING (@beautyisboring)

The look: matte red lips, smudged kohl eyes and glowing skin

Ooh, you lucky thing. This is the kind of date that “wining and dining” was made for. Perhaps your husband or wife is whisking you away for a birthday night of luxury. It could even be a first date with a particularly classy match. The outfit is slick, the shoes are shined, the jewels are a-sparking. Now for the face:

  • Mix your go-to foundation with a drop of liquid highlight. This will create a subtle pearlescent effect that looks stunning by candlelight
  • Use a small brush to spot-conceal any redness, blemishes, and discoloration
  • Press a black, dark brown, or charcoal eye pencil into the upper and lower lash lines and smudge out with a stubby brush
  • Add plenty of mascara
  • Apply a matte red long-wearing lippie like Wild Cherry
  • Dust the tops of the cheeks with a silver or gold highlight
  • For added dimension and warmth, dust a matte bronzer through the cheekbones, along the jaw, and through the hairline
  • Tousle your hair and spritz your sultriest perfume

The sweet daytime picnic date

The look: flushed cheeks, fluttery lashes, balmy skin, and pink lips

A daytime date out in nature, how sweet! A picnic at the park, beachside snacks, or a stroll around  the flea markets. This kind of date calls for a fresher, low maintenance look with a bit of color.

  • Apply your strongest face-friendly SPF sunscreen (even if your BB cream has SPF!)
  • Apply either a sheer foundation or a dewy BB or CC cream
  • Skip concealer (unless you’ve got breakouts you’d feel more comfortable to cover). For me, concealer tends to melt off and/or look cakey in the light of day, so I skip it
  • Dust a light layer of bronzer through the cheekbones, along the jaw, and through the hairline if you’re used to adding warmth to the face
  • Take a fresh pink, apricot, or peach blush and buff generously into the cheeks and up toward the temples
  • Add mascara and a few individual falsies to the outer corners of the lashes
  • Take a pink liner like Bubblegum and fill in the lips. Top with a layer of nourishing balm in a shade of pink such as Lickable. The balm keeps your lips soft, plump, and comfortable and is super easy to re-apply mirror-free

The first Tinder date

A post shared by PatriciaBright (@thepatriciabright)

The look: sculpted nude eyes, rosy cheeks, and glossy lips

There are no rules when it comes to makeup. If some random dude on Tinder thinks you wear too much makeup then you can go ahead and give him the “I don’t see this progressing” line. However, it can be stressful to navigate what to put on your face when you’re already stressing about if this date will be a funny anecdote or a meeting of the hearts. Here’s your no-fail, feature-enhancing look for that inevitably awkward first “app date”.

  • Apply the base you feel most comfortable with, one you would wear for a lunch or dinner with girlfriends. I usually opt for a BB cream with concealer to even out any redness or discoloration
  • Buff a medium brown (medium for your skin tone) eyeshadow through the crease with a fluffy brush until there are no harsh edge
  • Buff the same shade through the lower lash line
  • Use your finger to tap a paler, slightly shimmery shade onto the center of the lid and the inner corner
  • Use a pencil brush to press a deep chocolate shade into the upper lash line until smokey
  • Apply mascara
  • Buff a rosy-toned blush (or one that suits your skin) into the apples of the cheeks for a fresh, lively wash of color
  • Apply pink or nude-toned gloss or even a sheeny balm to the lips
  • If it’s an evening date, add a little golden highlight to the cheeks

How To Apply Makeup To Acne Breakouts https://liveglam.com/how-to-apply-makeup-to-acne-breakouts/ https://liveglam.com/how-to-apply-makeup-to-acne-breakouts/#respond Sat, 12 Mar 2022 00:06:03 +0000 https://liveglam.com/?p=10043264366 Breakouts, we all get them! These days, thanks to mask life, breakouts are even more likely to rear their annoying little heads.

When a breakout is particularly nasty, applying makeup to it can be tricky and a little uncomfortable. Luckily, I am very experienced in the world of breakouts (hormonal acne in my 30s, woohoo!). Here are my tips for how to apply makeup to breakouts.

Apply a calming treatment first

If your breakouts are feeling red, angry, and sore, I suggest applying a topical treatment that calms and soothes. It helps if it contains some active ingredients that may help to dry the breakout and kill any bacteria.

I love the Clinique anti-blemish solutions clearing gel ($19) as it provides a barrier between your skin and your makeup. It also helps to heal and reduce acne.

Use an oil-controlling or acne-based primer

For clear, “normal” skin, I usually say don’t bother with primer. However, both very dry and very oily/acne-prone skin can really benefit from a targeted product. This will add another barrier between your skin and your foundation, increasing the chance of a smooth, flawless-looking base.

An oil-controlling primer will also help to absorb and reduce excess oil and keep things on the matte side. Look for ingredients like benzoyl peroxide, tea tree, and AHA’s.

Use clean fingers to sparingly apply foundation

The last thing you want is to smear a dirty brush or sponge all over your breakout. This can add more bacteria and prolong the situation, eek. Of course, a squeaky-clean, just-washed tool is ideal. However, this isn’t always possible! I find that clean fingers are a great way to apply foundation without spreading bacteria.

I like to use a tapping motion as opposed to a swiping motion, as this presses the product into the skin without transferring oils across the face. If you’re attached to your favorite brush or beauty blender, just be sure to wash and dry it after every use!

A note on foundation: my tried-and-true approach is to use a sheer/natural foundation to even the skin tone, then let a full-coverage concealer do the heavy lifting.

Use a tiny brush to pinpoint-conceal the breakouts

Instead of smearing a thick layer of concealer all over the blemished areas, take a more measured approach.

Too much product can cause cakiness, oiliness, and a right pain in the ass to remove at the end of the day. Instead, take a full-coverage concealer on a tiny brush and press it onto your breakouts, focusing on the most red parts.

Use your ring finger to tap the concealer until it is seamlessly blended. The result is a flawless finish you can barely detect.

Use a teeny bit of translucent powder

I find that when my breakouts are really raging, they feel itchy and sore, especially when caked in powder. However, a tiny dusting of translucent powder goes a long way to insure your hard concealing work and reduce shine.

Take a clean, small brush or sponge loaded with a little powder and press onto the areas where you concealed. Take a fluffy, clean brush with no product on it and dust any excess powder away.
