Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Review

On the hunt for a new, lightweight base? We’ve got you covered! Check out LiveGlam beauty blogger Gin’s review of the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Moisturizer!

In my constant search for the perfect light base, I have finally gotten around to trying the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue ($33), albeit a little late in the game. I am kind of averse to heavy or full-coverage foundations. They blur out my freckles so that I have a “flat”, even face yet a freckled chest and body (an odd look).

I’ve been wearing this every day for 10 days at the time of writing, and here are my thoughts:

Price

It’s $33 (USD) which is reasonably expensive for a wee tube of product (1.18 ounces or 35 ml). However, I’m a believer in buying higher-priced products and sticking to them if they work, rather than trying a bunch of cheaper products that are “iffy” and may end up unused.

Shade range

There are 20 shades, which is pretty great for a tinted moisturizer. There are 6 “light” shades, 8 “medium” shades, 2 “dark” shades, and “4” deep shades. I picked the second-lightest shade, birch 1.5

It would be nice to see more dark shades, as only 6 shades on the darker side of medium seems unbalanced.

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Swatches

Special features

What I love about this is that it has SPF30. Plus, it is cruelty-free, paraben-free, vegan, SLS-free, and talc-free. Sounds clean to me!

Smell and feel: it smells…fresh! It’s not overpoweringly perfumed, but it smells nice. It’s good to see that there are no synthetic fragrances all up in there, as they’re unnecessary and can cause irritation.

The texture is interesting, and absolutely fits the description of “gel cream”. It’s light to the touch and doesn’t have an oily or emollient feel.

Application

I squeezed a decent amount onto my fingers, and applied with my fingertips from the middle of the face and outward. I was pleased to see that the shade I picked had a warm-toned yellow base with a slightly toastier color than my skin, while still being a great match. It applied super smoothly over my skin, didn’t cling to dry spots, and provided light coverage while keeping my freckles loud and free. It felt slightly tacky to the touch, but not bothersome.

I layered my Clarins Instant Concealer under my eyes and padded some over the redness around my nose and chin. It layered beautifully over the Complexion Rescue with no pilling, bunching, or patchiness.

Bare Minerals Foundation Review

Finish

I was thrilled with the finish. It was glowy and luminous but not oily or shiny at all. I have normal-to-dry skin at the moment, and it’s incredibly compatible. I can’t say how it would work with oily skin, but because of the gel-cream formula I am inclined to say that it would be fine, with a little setting powder. It’s definitely buildable for a more “foundation-like” coverage while remaining light.

Performance

I have used this with my new Morphe Continuous Setting Spray and alone without any setting powder or spray. Both times it lasted beautifully throughout the day without oxidizing or becoming patchy. The glowiness did increase with my natural oils, but it still remained fresh. Very happy indeed.

Will I buy it again? ABSOlutely. It’s easy, protective, glowy, buildable, comfortable, and my skin seems to love it. It’s a new daily favourite.

Morphe Continuous Setting Mist Review https://liveglam.com/morphe-continuous-setting-mist-review/ https://liveglam.com/morphe-continuous-setting-mist-review/#respond Wed, 18 Mar 2020 23:43:57 +0000 https://liveglam.com/?p=10041982928

Morphe Continuous Setting Mist Review

When you think of makeup setting sprays, you likely think of the OG Urban Decay All Nighter Spray. However, many gurus have been raving about the Morphe Continuous Setting Mist Spray, so we had to give it a spritz! Check out LiveGlam beauty blogger Gin’s review of this popular holy grail.

Hey, beauty friends!

So, I ran out of my Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray. I used it up over this hot, hot summer we’ve had over here in the Southern Hemisphere.

I took the opportunity to try out a new setting spray and test it against the old classic All Nighter. I’d heard many gurus raving about the Morphe Continuous Setting Mist ($16) so I had to see for myself. I have to say I was very excited about the prospect of an ultra-fine, “glob-free” mist…and a lower price tag.

The timing was great because my order arrived the day that I left for a road trip on a hot weekend to a winery region. If there’s anything that can put a setting spray to the test it’s a summer day, lots of biking, plenty of wine sipping, and lots of sweat.

I tested the setting spray over three full days before putting down my final thoughts! (Spoiler, there’s Zumba involved, oh yes).

WEAR ONE

Wear one products: Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue, MAC ‘Painterly’ Paint Pot, Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer, Stila Convertible Colour, and L’oreal Lash Paradise Mascara.

Morphe Setting Spray Review

First impressions: this mist IS FINE. So fine, in fact, that it didn’t actually feel like any product was reaching my face, so I loaded it on. I opened my eyes and yup, a saturated face greeted me in the mirror. Once it dries down, the finish is dewy and fresh, just like I like it. I don’t dab or press my setting spray into the skin after applying, I simply leave it.

Wear one activities: Summer wine tour on bikes, drinking, sweating outdoors. Then out for dinner.

End-of-day verdict: Looking good! After a long, sweaty day, my under eyes were barely smudged (just a little bit), and my skin looked even and fresh. My tinted moisturizer, while sheer, was still in place. I didn’t feel the need to reapply any makeup before going out for dinner that night. So far, so good!

WEAR TWO

Wear two products: Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue, MAC ‘Painterly’ Paint Pot, LiveGlam Marbled L.A Palette, Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer, and L’oreal Lash Paradise Mascara.

Morphe Setting Spray Wear Test

Wear two activities: I worked in an air-conditioned office all day, walked home from work (about 30 mins) and then did a 1-hour combat/boxing cardio class at the gym.

End of day verdict: my darker eye look was miraculously decent after an hour of punching, kicking, jumping, and sweating. The liquid eyeliner was breaking apart a little at the tip of the wing, but apart from that, everything was in place.

WEAR THREE

Wear three products: Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue, MAC ‘Groundwork’ Paint Pot, The Balm Mary Lou-Manizer, Stila Stay-all-Day Liquid Eyeliner, Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer, Milani Luminoso powder blush, and L’oreal Lash Paradise Mascara.

Morphe Continuos Setting Spray Review

Wear three activities: Pretty chilled day of work in my office. After work, I went to my 1-hour Zumba class. And let me tell you, I GO FOR IT at Zumba, no movement is spared.

End-of-day verdict: I was expecting to look in my car’s internal mirror and see a streaky, smudgy mess. However, I looked pretty darn great. Sure, I was very red and dewy (ahem, drenched in sweat), but my mascara was intact, my shadow was still smooth, and my complexion was passable.

FINAL VERDICT

I love this stuff. I admit that I do need to give it a try with a heavier foundation and powder to see how it fares with a full-glam, full-coverage face. However, that’s just not my usual look, so I wanted to test it with my everyday face. The mist is excellent! It’s so fine that you never have to worry about frothy blobs or makeup-ruining droplets to spit out at you. The continuous spray means you can get an even coating over the face and neck.
It’s a keeper.

Beauty Products to Try This Month! https://liveglam.com/beauty-products-to-try-this-month/ https://liveglam.com/beauty-products-to-try-this-month/#respond Wed, 19 Feb 2020 22:54:00 +0000 https://liveglam.com/?p=10041920036

Beauty Products to Try This Month!

Don’t you just hate it when you try out a new product and well… it just ain’t it. To save you the headache of spending more $$ on lackluster products, we’ve put together a list of our top favs that we’re definitely repurchasing over and over again. Here are a couple products that have completely won our hearts over!

TOO FACED – Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer

Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer ($30) is our go-to bronzer for adding more warmth and dimension into our complexions!

What we love the most about this product is the bold color payoff. Whatever your desired effect, you don’t need a ton of product to achieve it and the coverage is super buildable.

Infused with 100% real cocoa powder (which is rich in antioxidants), we love to bring this bronzer out when we’re going for a more natural contour with a beautiful, rich matte finish – or just about whenever we feel like getting a whiff of the luscious chocolate aroma that smells oh-so-yummy.

Formulated without parabens, sulfates, or phthalates, it features a long-wearing formula that can actually last you up to 8 hours. For the best results, just go one or two shades darker than your skin tone.

TARTE – Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush

A gorgeous, natural flush is one of the most flattering looks! For rosy cheeks, our top pick is Tarte’s Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush ($29).

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush

What we love the most about this blush? It has phenomenal staying power! Formulated with micronized Amazonian clay, this formula actually helps to control oil and it doesn’t fade at all throughout the day.

You also don’t have to worry about being too heavy-handed during application (as you would with other blushes), since the soft and silky powder blends seamlessly into your skin. With buildable coverage, you can easily customize your flush.

Bonus points for being formulated without parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, and triclosan.

URBAN DECAY – 24/7 Glide-On Pencil

Finding the perfect eyeliner is no easy task! You want precision, bold color payoff, budget-friendly, and most importantly, NO smudging.

Luckily, Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Pencil ($22) fits this description perfectly. This eyeliner pencil features a soft and creamy consistency that applies smoothly AND it’s waterproof.

Ok, well… from personal experience, it did smudge a bit every now and then but it’s still one of the most long-wearing eyeliner pencils out there!

What we love the most about this eyeliner? It has an ultra-nourishing formula that contains 50% moisturizing ingredients, such as vitamin E, jojoba oil, and cottonseed oil.

What’s the one product that you keep repurchasing over and over again? Let us know in the comments down below which product we should try next!

Maybelline Fit Me Dewy and Smooth Foundation Review https://liveglam.com/maybelline-fit-me-dewy-and-smooth-foundation-review/ https://liveglam.com/maybelline-fit-me-dewy-and-smooth-foundation-review/#respond Tue, 18 Feb 2020 00:32:21 +0000 https://liveglam.com/?p=10041917775

If you’re on the hunt for a drugstore foundation… look no further! With so many new products constantly rolling out, let’s not forget about the oldies. Here’s a thorough review on the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation, Dewy & Smooth!

Maybelline Fit Me Dewy and Smooth Review

I picked up the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation, Dewy & Smooth ($7.99) at the supermarket as I needed something cheap to use for a show. Maybelline rarely disappoints me, so I felt safe with the choice. Did it turn out well? Let’s see…

My complexion and skin type: I have fair skin with a generous dose of golden-brown freckles that bring my overall depth up a few notches. My skin is combo, with a few teeny dry patches and a tendency for an oilier nose.

Price: in the USA, this baby goes for $7.99, pretty darn reasonable if you ask me. (In New Zealand it costs an extortionate $25 but that’s standard here…infuriating as it is).

Packaging: it comes in a really sleek, expensive-feeling glass bottle with a black screw- top cap. However, it doesn’t come with a pump so you have to awkwardly dribble a bit out onto the back of your hand, or shake the bottle onto your finger for a smaller amount. This doesn’t bother me too much, but I can understand that mess-phobes may find it unappealing.

Coverage: this is a sheer-medium foundation, absolutely not full coverage in any way. This is excellent for me, as a thick foundation just covers my freckles and makes me look flat as a pancake! It evens out the skin tone and adds just enough coverage to look polished.

Use a concealer to spot-conceal trouble areas and you’ll be flawless. The coverage and finish are similar to the Mac Face and Body Foundation (my top favorite), but a little less glowy and an oilier consistency as opposed to watery and gel-like.

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation Review

Finish: the finish is definitely glowy, but I wouldn’t call it dewy. Shade: there are 24 shades, not bad, but not phenomenal.

I chose Classic Ivory 120 as it was the most realistic shade in stock at the time. This could have been risky as it’s number 6 on the depth scale with 5 paler options before it.

When I first dabbed it on my skin I thought oh god, it’s too dark and too orange…here we go. It does have a very warm, yellow undertone which worked for me in the end as it matches the undertone of my freckles.

As I blended it in, it sheered out to a rather flattering, slightly golden tone that wasn’t too dark after all. In fact, a lighter tone may have pulled too rosy or chalky on me. The catch is that my neck is SO much paler than my face and chest, so I have to make sure to blend it thoroughly down the neck.

Performance: I applied this foundation over a simple moisturizer, with no primer or pore-filling products underneath. I use my fingers for foundations like these, as I find the warmth and control allows me to really blend it into every little crevice and pore (and it’s fast…and I’m lazy).

Without powder, this foundation sits beautifully on the skin without picking up dryness or become patchy whatsoever.

I layered Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer (under the eyes) and LA Girl Pro Concealer (around the nose and on blemishes) over the top with great success.

I dusted the entire face with Laura Mercier Translucent Powder with super-smooth results, no pilling or bunching in sight. A decent spritz with Urban Decay All Nighter and I’m done.

I wore this combo during an outdoor acting performance (in Summer!) and it held up excellently. At the end of the night, my skin looked pleasantly fresh. This is most likely the work of the setting spray, but the foundation undoubtedly held its own!

Best Drugstore Foundation

Downsides? Something many other users have noted is that this foundation contains fragrance, unfortunately. I am reasonably sensitive to smells and I wasn’t knocked back by any overwhelming fragrance, but it has a whiff of something. I have slightly sensitive skin and I haven’t experienced any reactions, but very sensitive girls and guys should be wary.

Note to Maybelline: we don’t need fragrance on our faces, we promise!

Final verdict: Overall, I really like this foundation and I give it a solid 4.2 out of 5. It elevates my skin with a little healthy glow, it blends beautifully and wears well under all my go-to products. The coverage is perfect for me, but full-coverage glamsters may find it a little lacking.

Product Review: MAC Studio Finish SPF 35 Concealer https://liveglam.com/mac-studio-finish-spf-35-concealer-review/ https://liveglam.com/mac-studio-finish-spf-35-concealer-review/#respond Fri, 10 Jan 2020 19:15:37 +0000 https://liveglam.com/?p=10041679083

Product Review: MAC Studio Finish SPF 35 Concealer

Looking for a new concealer to add into your makeup collection? If you’re trying to find a concealer that can provide A TON of coverage without that heavy cakey feeling, you definitely have to give MAC Cosmetics’ Studio Finish SPF 35 Concealer ($23) a try!

Here’s what we love about this concealer:

Buildable coverage

Compared to other concealers, the coverage is quite remarkable when it comes to blurring imperfections, or even concealing dark spots and blemishes.

Even though the container looks pretty tiny… don’t be fooled! It can actually last you quite some time since the formula is pretty concentrated. By providing us with opaque coverage, you only need a small amount of product to entirely conceal any problem areas.

MAC Studio Finish SPF 35 Concealer Review

Natural finish

Although this emollient-based concealer provides opaque coverage, it actually doesn’t look or feel heavy at all. Compared to other full-coverage concealers, this concealer doesn’t crease or look cakey throughout the day.

The rich, creamy formula can be used to even out any sort of discoloration and to conceal imperfections while providing a super natural finish.

What we love the most about this product is how easy it is to blend. It’s a good idea to use your fingers to apply this product. The warmth from your fingers can make it more blendable by thinning out the consistency.

Long-wearing formula

This long-wearing concealer has phenomenal staying power. It’s marketed as water- resistant along with the ability to control oil.

That said, you really don’t have to worry much about this concealer fading, melting, or creasing throughout the day – it stays put.

MAC Concealer Review

Contains SPF 35

Formulated with derivatives of Vitamin A and E, this product can deliver a number of benefits to our skin to support its health.

Just in case you needed another reason to give this concealer a try: This antioxidant- rich concealer also contains SPF 35 to help protect our skin from the harmful effects of the sun.

A post shared by Glossier (@glossier) on

What we love the most about this product? Marketed as a ‘sheer skin enhancer’ – that’s exactly what it does. Unlike most products on the market, the goal here isn’t to cover up your skin.

Rather, the ultra-breathable formula does a phenomenal job at enhancing your natural beauty by brightening up your complexion and evening out any sort of discoloration. As Glossier likes to say, “More skin, less makeup.”

Sheer coverage

This isn’t your typical tinted moisturizer… actually it’s pretty different. This product has an ultra-thin consistency that’s more watery than liquid foundation, but not as creamy as tinted moisturizer.

The coverage is SHEER. Like super sheer. If you’re looking for something with buildable sheer to medium coverage – this isn’t it. And if there are any blemishes or minor imperfections that you want to completely cover up, you’ll definitely have to load up on the concealer or just go with a product that can afford you more coverage.

Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint

Ultra-hydrating formula

This skin tint is formulated with glycerin, which helps our skin attract and retain moisture. After applying this skin tint, your skin feels more nourished and hydrated. The texture is comparable to a lightweight lotion and it blends seamlessly into the skin to give our face a smoother, more refined appearance.

What’s great about this skin tint is that it doesn’t look or feel cakey on your face. Your skin can actually breathe! And It doesn’t feel like you’re wearing any makeup at all.

Natural, dewy finish

Formulated with diamond powder, this skin tint illuminates your complexion while giving your face a subtle wash of color to even out your skin tone. It has a subtle blurring effect that minimizes the appearance of pores as well as any sort of discoloration. The dewy finish is very natural, and the end result is a healthy-looking, gorgeous glow.

Cons?

This skin tint is a fantastic product all-around, from the ultra-hydrating formula to the sleek packaging that looks great on any makeup table. But there’s one con and it might be a deal-breaker for some: The bottle is pretty tiny (30 ml to be exact).

Although the price point isn’t anything too crazy for face makeup, the size of the product is relatively small compared to similar products on the market. And since the coverage is pretty sheer, you’ll probably be using a generous amount of product during each application.

That said, this skin tint is an awesome product to have on hand just for those days you want to keep things simple with a healthy, fresh-faced glow!

What’s your ultimate go-to product for achieving dewy skin? Let us know in the comments down below what’s your favorite foundation or tinted moisturizer for a natural glow!

The Latest Beauty Tool Everyone’s Talking About! https://liveglam.com/the-latest-beauty-tool-everyones-talking-about/ https://liveglam.com/the-latest-beauty-tool-everyones-talking-about/#respond Wed, 30 Oct 2019 23:17:57 +0000 https://liveglam.com/?p=10038518616 The Latest Beauty Tool Everyone’s Talking About!

When you take the time to show your skin some more love, it really shows! The thing is, when your skin already has a natural glow (thanks to a bulletproof skin regimen) – you don’t need as much makeup to achieve a flawless makeup application. Point is, skincare is a huge deal. However, it’s not just about the face serums or oils you’re religiously applying onto your face… you also need to use the right tools!

So what’s the latest and greatest beauty tool everyone’s been talking about? Gua sha. There’s been a lot of hype circulating around these uniquely-shaped pieces of jade or rose quartz crystals – and rightfully so. This facial tool comes with the promise of giving you a brighter complexion while providing our faces with some subtle lifting action. It’s also budget-friendly… the ultimate win-win situation.

Intrigued? Here’s everything you need to know about this popular face tool!

What’s a gua sha?

Even though it’s been getting more recognition in the beauty industry as of late, this magical tool has actually been around for centuries! Since the ancient times, its therapeutic benefits have been essential to practices in traditional Chinese medicine. These practices involved scraping the skin with this device to promote healing and to rid the body of stagnant energy.

Benefits of using a facial gua sha

Quite similar to a jade roller, a facial gua sha is used as a natural approach to support our skin health. It’s believed that incorporating a facial gua sha into your skincare routine can make your face look more refined along with brightening up your complexion. With the right massaging techniques, this tool can facilitate drainage of the lymph nodes and relieve muscular tension in the face.

Using a facial gua sha can give you a natural glow along with these specific benefits:

  • Improve blood circulation
  • Relieve muscular tension
  • Lift the skin
  • Enhance the natural contours of your face

Gua Sha Beauty Tool

How to use this tool?

As with any other tools you use on your face, make sure you’re washing it regularly with soap and water. Besides keeping it clean, it’s also important to make sure you apply an oil or serum onto your face before using it!

As a general rule of thumb, you should start off with more gentle strokes before applying a little more pressure into it.

For a natural glow, position the tool at the side of your nose bridge and glide it across your cheek with a long stroke (using the side with the groove). The key is to start off at the center, then pull the tool in an outward and upward motion toward your hairline. As you work your way down to your jaw, you should be pulling it towards your ear.

To achieve a naturally chiseled jawline, position the tool on the center of your chin. Glide the tool across your jawline, pulling it towards your ear by following the bone. When you get to your ear, shift the position of the tool to continue the massage down the side of your neck.

How to Use a Gua Sha

Sounds a little tricky, doesn’t it? Here’s a super informative tutorial to guide you through it!

I’m not a Mom (yet), but I am at that stage of life where first-time moms and moms of new-born bubs are all around me. I know that each and every Mom has a different experience, but I think it’s safe to say that sleeplessness and exhaustion are pretty universal in those early few months!

This got me thinking about the beauty products Mom with a newborn would love. I thought about time-constraints, tiredness, and the daily routine of a Mom. I also checked in with my Mom friends to find out what they loved, or would have loved to have and use when their babies were fresh outta the oven.

Nourishing hand cream

Moms wash their hands constantly thanks to the constant nappy changing, spit-up cleaning and bottle, breast-feeding or pumping preparation. This creates dry and uncomfortable hands. A nourishing hand cream which sinks into the skin quickly will help to keep your hands soft, not only for your own comfort, but for the comfort of your sweet little baby’s skin!

My recommendation: I love the Clinique Deep Comfort Hand and Cuticle Cream, ($24). It’s rich and hydrating, yet super gentle for Mom and baby.

Lip balm

Momma needs smooth lips for all those kisses for baby! Plus, sleepless nights and general tiredness seem to go hand-in-hand with dry lips. A soft and nourishing lip balm is easy to use and adds a little touch of comfort and pampering without the pressure of actually applying makeup or an all-out skincare routine.

My recommendation: any of the Hurraw lip balms ($4). They smell and taste delicious, they’re affordable (get her a whole bunch!) and they’re all natural. My go-to is the chocolate flavor, of course.

Dry shampoo

Hey, I don’t even have kids and I struggle to wash my hair as often as I should (cause I’m freakin’ lazy). I can’t imagine how tough it would be for a new Mommy to take the time to get a thorough shampoo session into her routine. Enter the dry shampoo! If you want to feel a little fresher and eliminate greasiness at the roots, spray a dry shampoo into the roots and mid-lengths, rub it in and go. This is great for if you’re heading off to doctor’s appointments or have friends and family coming over to admire your precious little baby creation.

My recommendation: honestly, I can’t go past my personal favorite, the cheap and cheerful (and very effective) Batiste Original Dry Shampoo – Clean & Classic ($8.99). It’s affordable, it does the job, smells great, doesn’t leave white powder all over my roots.

Beauty Products for New Moms

Tinted moisturizer

A tinted moisturizer is ideal for hydrating the skin while evening out the skin tone and giving a soft glow (when using a dewy or satin formula). This is great for new Moms who love a full-glam face but just can’t fathom it right now. When you’re heading out and want to feel a little more like yourself, a tinted moisturizer, concealer, mascara and touch of multi-tasking color on the lips and cheeks will do the trick.

My recommendation: for a really affordable option, I love the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream ($8.99), however, I know this isn’t everyone’s favorite as the formula is quite sticky (I like that, for some reason!) and the shade range is lacking.

For a more high-end but completely fantastic option, I can’t look past the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream ($32). It feels fresh on the face, gives a glowing complexion and has SPF30, great for Summertime Moms who spend lots of time outdoors walking their little bundle of cuteness.

Under-eye concealer

Sleepless nights equals undereye dark circles. I know this sounds so strange but I actually love the look of darkness around the eyes on many women, I think it looks kind of moody and interesting on the face (am I a weirdo? Maybe). However, if you or your Mommy friend feel more like themselves (and more awake) when cancelling out those dark bags, a quick and hydrating under-eye concealer should be front and center on the bathroom counter.

My recommendation: good old Maybelline Age Rewind ($9.99). Easy, affordable, doesn’t crease, blends in a flash. Predictable, I know, but why mess with a good thing?!

Multi-tasking lip/cheek

I know that when I am a Mom in the near future I will still be my same makeup-loving self and will still crave that pop of color. However, I absolutely will not be standing in front of the mirror contouring, layering different blush shades and using 12 different lip products as usual. The answer? A multi-tasking, nourishing (take a drink every time I say “nourishing”) color balm. Dab it onto the lips, rub into the cheeks, done.

My recommendation: Nudestix Nudies Bloom All Over Dewy Color ($32). I love these sticks because they give a fresh, dewy, skin-like finish and pretty, feminine color. Plus, they have a brush on one end for buffing color into the skin.

Hydrating shower cream

A sleep-deprived new Mom probably won’t have the time or energy to apply a full-body moisturizing cream. However, she still appreciates and deserves hydrated skin. Kill two birds with one stone and get your hydrating done in the shower (when you get the chance to enjoy one!). An in-shower hydrating cream washes off immediately, no need to wait for it to sink in. Get in, slather it on, wash it off, get out. Done.

My recommendation: this is my favorite, the Eucerin In-Shower Moisturizer ($17.49). I love that it is fragrance free, reasonably affordable and super effective on my dry skin.

How to Get Smooth Skin with Flaxseed Oil https://liveglam.com/how-to-get-smooth-skin-with-flaxseed-oil/ https://liveglam.com/how-to-get-smooth-skin-with-flaxseed-oil/#respond Wed, 16 Oct 2019 23:23:37 +0000 https://liveglam.com/?p=10037882835 How to Get Smooth Skin with Flaxseed Oil

Let’s talk about skin! Soft skin. Glowing skin. Moisturized skin, and how to get it from the inside out. Most beauty fanatics know the skin-loving properties of Omega fatty acids. However, a great skin smoother you may not know about is flaxseed oil!

My Mom always keeps a bottle of flaxseed oil in the fridge. During a phase when I was a young 20s lady living at home (long story), I asked if I could get on the flaxseed oil train with her. “Yes, it’s very good for the skin” (in classic Mom voice). I added a tablespoon to my smoothie everyday. And you know what? Within a few weeks, my skin was rather drastically different. It felt softer to the touch, looked clearer, and was overall more luminous and healthy looking!

What is flaxseed oil and why is it so great?

Flaxseed oil is the oil extracted from flaxseeds (obviously), also known as linseeds.

Flaxseed oil for smooth skin

Flaxseeds and flaxseed oil are known as powerhouse health ingredients because they are packed with Omega-3 fatty acids, aka heart-loving warrior fats! Omega 3’s do all kinds of wonderful things such as protect the brain and reduce inflammation. And of course, flaxseed oil helps to hydrate and nourish the skin from the inside out, resulting in smoother, softer more comfortable skin all over.

Flaxseed oil is a great alternative to fish oil for vegans and vegetarians.

Where do I get it and how do I use it?

If you’d prefer taking your flaxseed oil in the form of a capsule, the Nature Made Organic Flaxseed Oil ($23.46) softgel capsules (available on Amazon) are great. You simply take one, once a day, with food. So easy.

For loose oil, there are awesome options at Walmart. I love the Nature’s Way EfaGold Organic Flax Oil ($13.19).

When using loose flaxseed oil, simply add a tablespoon to your salad dressing, protein shake or smoothie once a day.

Get smooth skin using flaxseed oil

DON’T cook with flaxseed oil! It’s supposed to be taken cold and raw. Heat can destroy the goodies.

If you’re aiming for soft, nourished skin this Fall and Winter, definitely supplement your topical moisturizing routine with flaxseed oil. (Your brain and heart will love it too, and that’s always a good thing).

Let me know how it goes!
